Tyson was one of the greatest high school players of all-time at Dominguez HS where he was so good, he was featured on CBS TV’s ’60 Minutes’ and skipped college. He led his HS team to the California State title as a senior, averaging 26 points, 15 rebounds and 8 blocks per game as was named McDonald’s, USA Today, and Parade All-American. He was a rare Mr. California Basketball twice in 2000 and 2001. He became the number two overall NBA selection by the Los Angeles Clippers, and then was traded to Chicago where he started a 20-year NBA career, and was the NBA Defensive Player of the Year, three times, a multi-time All-Defensive Team member, and an NBA All-Star.

He played for multiple teams, including the Los Angeles Lakers. His NBA highlight was helping Dallas to the 2011 title, including averaging 13 points and 16 rebounds  a game. The 7-0 Chandler won gold medals with the USA National Team in 2010 at the FIBA World Championships and the 2012 London Olympics. He retired in 2020, after being limited by a 2018 injury. He is currently a development NBA coach with Dallas.
