Toya was one of the greatest players to ever come out of the San Fernando Valley as a two-time All-City player at Kennedy in Granada Hills. Her two sisters also played there. She received a full scholarship to Arizona State at the start of the NCAA era and was the Pac-10 conference freshman of the year. She transferred to United State International University of San Diego (USIU) where she was the WCAA Player of the Year when she averaged 22 points and 8 rebounds a game. The 5-10 wing played professionally for the California Dream.

After retiring she became the head girl’s coach at Kennedy, and then had a long career as head coach at Campbell Hall from 2003-2015, winning a CIF championship. She was also co-athletic director for six years before moving into administration at the HS as Co-Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion. She has three sons with former ASU player Shawn Holiday that play in the NBA, including NBA champion and Olympic Gold Medalist Jrue, plus current players Aaron and Justin, and a daughter Lauren that played college basketball at UCLA. She was inducted into the LA City Sports HOF in 2019.
