Stan Morrison, 2026

Stan attended Bellflower HS in the1950s, then went onto an amazing college career at Cal-Berkeley playing center and forward at 6-7 from 1959-61, winning the 1959 NCAA title team and finishing second in 1960. He averaged 11 points and 6 rebounds per game for his college career. He was one of the first American players to ever go overseas for pro ball and led his Real Madrid team to the FIBA cup finals in 1962. He then turned to coaching. Morrison is the only coach in NCAA history to lead three different Division I basketball teams, in the same state, to the NCAA Tournament – University of the Pacific, University of Southern California, San Jose State University. Morrison was ‘Coach of the Year’ in the Pacific Coast Athletic Association, the Pac-10 Conference and the Big West Conference, winning 275 games in 23 years. He also served on the NCAA basketball committee. He was Athletic Director at both UC Santa Barbara and UC Riverside. He was the recipient of the 2016–17 Pete Newell Career Achievement Award at Cal-Berkeley. In 2018 he was inducted into the California State Sports Hall of Fame.
