Mack Calvin, 2027
The 6-0 point guard was a standout at Long Beach Poly HS, winning a California State Title (72-1 as a junior and senior). He then went to Long Beach City College before moving onto play for SCBBHOFer Bob Boyd at USC. He was instrumental as an All-Pac-8 senior when the Trojans ended John Wooden’s 51 game home winning streak and handed Lew Alcindor his only home career loss. He was only a 14th round 1969 NBA draft pick by the Lakers (also drafted out of HS by the LA Dodgers), so he decided on the ABA, where he started an 11-year professional career, beginning with making the ABA All-Rookie team with the Los Angeles Stars. He was a five-time ABA All-Star, three-time All-Pro while eventually playing in the NBA with the Lakers. In 1997, Calvin was selected as one of thirty players to the ABA All-Time Team, He scored over 12,000 points in his career, averaging 16 points and 5 assists per game. He coached on the high school, college and professional levels and briefly coached with the Clippers.
