Darren Daye, 2027
He was an All-City player at Kennedy HS in Granada Hills and was named as the 1979 California Mr. Basketball, plus a Parade All-American. The 6-8 forward was a McDonald’s All-American and MVP of the 1979 all-star game when he scored 22 points with 14 rebounds. He won a gold medal playing for the USA U19 team in the World Cup. He went to UCLA from 1979-1983, where he averaged 10 points and 4 rebounds a game, shooting over 55% from the floor and playing in multiple NCAA Tournament games, including being the sixth man in the 1980 NCAA semi-finals and finals where the Bruins lost the title game to incoming SCBBHOFer Denny Crum. He then went onto a 14-year professional career, including five years in the NBA with Washington, Chicago and Boston. His highlight was playing in the 1987 NBA finals against the Lakers. He then played overseas before retiring in 1997. His son Austin played at Gonzaga and was a first-round NBA draft pick, winning an NBA title with San Antonio in 2014.
