
Cedric Ceballos, 2024
Cedric attended Dominguez HS where he was mostly a substitute, and then Ventura Junior College where he won the 1987 California State Championship while setting a school record in total points. He played his final two years at Cal State Fullerton where he averaged 22 points and 10 rebounds a game over his two seasons, before moving onto a long NBA career. At Fullerton he led the conference in scoring, and was second in rebounding. The 6-7 Ceballos was the second-round pick in 1990 of the Phoenix Suns.
He won the 1992 NBA Slam Dunk contest while blindfolded, and also led the league in field goal percentage shooting over 57%. He lost to Michael Jordan and the Bulls in the 1993 NBA finals. He was an NBA All-Star in 1995 when he averaged over 20 points per game as the leading scorer for the LA Lakers. He once scored 50 points in an NBA game. He had an eight-year NBA career and also played overseas before returning to work in the Phoenix front office. He is second cousins with Kobe Bryant and they played together in Bryant’s first season. He is in both the Ventura and Cal State Fullerton Athletics Halls of Fame.
