Candice Wiggins, 2022

Candice is one of the greatest players in California history, and a four-time CIF Champion at La Jolla Country Day School as well as being All-City. Her teams won California State titles in 2001 and 2002, and made state finals other two years. She was selected as a McDonald’s and USA Today All-American, and as the 2004 California Ms. Basketball.

She was captain of the USA Junior Team, which won the gold medal. She went onto be just as successful at Stanford as the 5-11 guard was a four-time college All-American from 2004-08, finishing as the three-time Pac-10 conference player of the year (including first freshman to win the honor), plus third leading scorer in Pac-10 history, and was the 2008 Wade National Player of the Year and Lowe Senior Award winner. She led the Cardinal to their first NCAA final since 1992. Wiggins then became the number three overall WNBA draft pick by Minnesota, and played in the league from 2008-2015. She won one WNBA championship, was an all-star, and voted sixth person of the year. She also played a year for LA Sparks. After volunteer coaching at HS alma mater, she is the first-time coach of SPIRE women’s basketball academy in Geneva, Ohio.
