Stacey Augmon, 2022
Stacey went to Pasadena’s Muir High School and led the team to its first CIF title in 1986. He was CIF Player of the Year, and a HS All-American. Augmon played college basketball at Nevada-Las Vegas under 2023 SCBBHOFer Coach Jerry Tarkanian. During his junior year, the Runnin’ Rebels won the 1990 NCAA Championship by defeating the Duke in the title game. Augmon was the first three-time winner of the NABC Defensive Player of the Year, winning the award in 1989, 1990, and 1991. He was inducted in 2002 to the UNLV Athletics Hall of Fame along with teammates Greg Anthony and Larry Johnson.
While in college, he played on the 1988 USA Olympic Team, which won the bronze medal. Augmon was the 1991 first round draft pick by the Atlanta Hawks. The 6-8 lefty played for the Hawks, Detroit, Portland, Charlotte, New Orleans, and Orlando in a 15-year pro career, where he established the importance of a NBA defensive stopper. He then went into coaching on the pro and college levels, including working at UNLV, and was most recently was part of the Sacramento Kings organization. He is in the Pasadena Athletics Hall of Fame and his #32 jersey has been retired by UNLV.
