John Garfield ‘Toby’ Bailey was a HS All-American at Loyola, then a college standout at UCLA, including scoring 26 points with 9 rebounds in NCAA Championship game in 1995 when he won the title as a freshman. He was a HS All-American averaging over 25 points per game as one of the top 15 prep prospects in the nation, setting school scoring and rebounding records, while winning ‘Los Angeles Times’ Player of the Year honors as the school went to the CIF playoffs four straight years, include the CIF semi-finals.

He went onto become an All-Pac-10 player the next three years, including twice being the team MVP. He was then was selected in the second round of the NBA draft by the LA Lakers. He ended up playing two years for the Phoenix Suns before going overseas and playing ten years in Europe before retiring in 2011. The 6-5 Bailey played on three European championship teams in Greece and Belgium, was a multi-time European League all-star, and an all-star ‘Slam Dunk Champion’. His brother Ryan followed him to UCLA. Toby was inducted into the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame in 2017.
