Six Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame selections, which includes Olympic Gold
Medalists, College Basketball HOF members, Women’s Basketball HOF choices, and City/CIF Players and Coaches of the Year highlight the 20 members of the 2021 Southern California Basketball Hall of Fame (SCBBHOF) class. Headlining the honorees are Naismith HOF selections Gail Goodrich (1996, LA Poly HS & UCLA), George Yardley (1996, Newport Harbor HS & Stanford), Dennis Johnson (2010, Dominguez HS/Harbor College & Pepperdine), Reggie Miller (2012, Riverside Poly HS & UCLA), Tina Thompson (2018, Morningside HS & USC), and Rick Adelman (2021, St. Pius X HS & Loyola now LMU). Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the 2021 and the 2020 classes we will honored together during the summer of 2022 induction event.

Additional 2021 SCBBHOF selections, who had top high school, college and NBA careers include Gilbert Arenas (Grant HS & Arizona), Joe Caldwell (Fremont HS & Arizona State), Baron Davis (Crossroads HS & UCLA), Steve Kerr (Palisades HS & Arizona), Raymond Lewis (Verbum Dei HS & Cal State LA), David Meyers (Sonora HS & UCLA), Harold Miner (Inglewood HS & USC), Byron Scott (Morningside HS & Arizona State), Reggie Theus (Inglewood HS & UNLV), and John Williams (Crenshaw HS & LSU).

Other high school standouts and college champions being inducted into the
SCBBHOF include Anita Ortega (Los Angeles HS & UCLA 1978 AIAW Title
team), plus Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame members include Nancy Dunkle
(Connolly HS & Cal State Fullerton 3-tme Kodak All-American, Coach CSF) and Linda K. Sharp (John F. Kennedy HS, Fullerton College & Cal State Fullerton, Coach USC 1983 & 1984 NCAA Title teams). College Basketball HOF pick and College Player of the Year, Sidney Wicks (Hamilton HS & UCLA) was also selected.

“Los Angeles Times” prep sports columnist Eric Sondheimer, who has covered
basketball for over 40 years, has been selected as the second Lifetime Service
recipient of the SCBBHOF. Frank Burlison, who wrote for many years for the
“Long Beach Press Telegram” was selected for the first year.


The first 2020 SCBBHOF honorees were: Jarron Collins, Jason Collins, Cynthia Cooper-Dyke, Jim Harrick, Casey Jacobsen, Marques Johnson, Lisa Leslie, Don MacLean, Gary McKnight, Ann Meyers Drysdale, Cheryl Miller, Tracy Murray, Pete Newell, Ed O’Bannon, Miles Simon, Kiki VanDeWeghe, Bill Walton, Paul Westphal, Jamaal Wilkes, Leon Wood.

“We are very excited about our second outstanding class of decorated men and women, who have meant so much over the years to Southern California basketball, said Mike Gallups, Vice-President of the SCBBHOF. “These legends started as tremendous high school players and went on from there to accomplish so much more whether in college and/or professional basketball and in life.”
